Faithfulness

Fanny Crosby

The Miracle of Faithfulness

Sometimes the greatest miracle is not a healing, but the testimony of someone who remains faithful to God when they don’t receive a miracle. Fanny Crosby composed some of the world’s most beloved hymns, such as Great is Thy Faithfulness, Pass me not Oh Gentle Savior, and To God be the Glory. Over her lifetime, she composed over 8000 hymns and gospel songs. Surely, such inspiration is evidence of a deep and enduring faith. However, for her entire life, Fanny Crosby was blind. She went to her savior to receive her sight, where His face would be the first thing she would ever behold.

Growing old unto death is the greatest sickness of all—no one escapes it. But Salvation reverses that, with the gift of Eternal Life paid for by the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on Calvary. Therefore, physical healing is included in the atonement, whether it happens in this life or the next.

Sometimes, for His own sovereign purposes, God allows an affliction to continue throughout a person’s life. In those cases, another miracle takes place: The Miracle of trust, and faithfulness. We salute and honor those like Fanny Crosby, who provide this wonderful testimony of faith.
